The Perfect Challenge for Geographiles Like Me!
I discovered TravelPod’s Traveler IQ Challenge several years ago via facebook. I was hooked the first time I played it. Its concept is simple: a place anywhere around the world is randomly selected and you have to drop a pin on the world map to locate it and you have to do this as quickly as possible! The closer the pin to the exact location, and the quicker it’s dropped, the more points you accumulate. As you progress (there are 12 Levels), the places get trickier and you get less time to drop the pin. In the advanced stages, you’ll find yourself trying to locate cities in Siberia or thinking you’ve got the Norwegian town nailed, only to find out it’s 12,000 kilometers from Norway! At the end of the game, your Traveler IQ is calculated. Mine’s currently 137.
It’s a fun and educational game; the perfect challenge for geographiles like me.
I have to confess that I used to play this game many times at the office; it provided me with my moment of solitude and it was often a welcome distraction.
Play it here… but beware: this game is highly addictive. ![]()

LOVE this game, have been playing it since I found it on here a few days ago. I used to love geography in elementary school, I had a globe at my house that I used to play with. I was stuck on level 10 for a while, but have finally surpassed it! But now am stuck on level 11 LOL. My interior African geography is pretty terrible, and also my Pacific island knowledge isn’t great either, and that is why I’m stuck on level 11; I keep getting super obscure places in Africa and the Pacific! The one place I’ve been in the south Pacific, I have not been asked about at all! (Fiji)
However, My European geography is awesome, and my American continents are pretty good as well (North moreso than South obviously since I’m from the US). Asia is a toss-up (China, Japan, Korea, Indian subcontinent I’m good, southeast Asia not great, western Asia iffy).
My most recent game I got IQ of 119 (level 11) and total score 456968. Is there a way I can post this on facebook? Like the actual game, not just a link to this page?
Thanks!
Kaylin
PS I love to travel but so far have only been to 4 countries outside the US (3 in Europe). I’m working on it though!!
Oh, I love this game! I’ve played it like a thousand times, every time raising my traveler IQ a bit more. It’s actualy a very educative game.Maybe they should play it at school.
goodish work I found it very good.
Haha, I can’t remember my score (600k+ I believe) but my IQ is 137. Enjoy!
OK…so what score did you get Keith? We’re having lots of fun with it here. I’ve not seen this before. Husband has not travelled & kept heading to South America every time a Sth African destination came up. Hilarious!!
Haha, thanks Cate. No requirement here to share your Traveler IQ.
I remember being addicted to this, thinking I knew more than I actually did. Won;t be sharing my IQ, it’s too shameful especially for someone like me who travels.
