St. Albans is a city in the county of Hertfordshire, about 30 kilometers north of London. Known for its markets and stunning cathedral, St. Albans can trace its history back to Roman times when it was called Verulamium. I’ll be spending the next few days in St. Albans on a blog trip organised by my good friend and fellow blogger Andy Jarosz.
The idea of a blog trip to St. Albans was sprung when we were on a blog trip to Valencia last summer. We were discussing who, among the travel bloggers, was going to visit London in November for the World Travel Market (WTM). Upon returning home to St. Albans, Andy took it upon himself to get in touch with local businesses to gauge their interest in sponsoring a bunch of bloggers in exchange for online exposure – Andy figured that many of Europe’s top travel bloggers were going to be in London for the WTM, so why not invite them to St. Albans? Much to his surprise, the local businesses responded with great enthusiasm. As the planning for the blog trip progressed, many more businesses and tourism bodies joined in.
The result is a fun-filled programme with many opportunities for the travel bloggers to experience St. Albans and network with local companies and tourism organisations. I’m especially looking forward to witnessing St. Alban’s famous Guy Fawkes fireworks display, the Sunday morning hike through the countryside, the networking events and a spin around London in 1960′s Mini Coopers! And all this in the company of great friends! ![]()
