The best place for the most spectacular views of Rio de Janeiro is from atop the Corcovado Mountain at the foot of the Christ the Redeemer Statue, the city’s iconic landmark. It can be a long wait for those who want to get up there (by train) – I suggest taking a taxi from the base station instead – but the incredible panoramic views of Rio de Janeiro are absolutely worth the wait! From here, you also get a fantastic view of another iconic Rio landmark: the Sugarloaf Mountain.

Another iconic Rio landmark from where you have incredible view of Rio de Janiero is the Sugarloaf Mountain. Take the cable-car to the top via a two-step trip. I highly recommend going up just before sunset for unforgettable views!

Sugarloaf Mountain or Christ Statue?

If I had to choose between these two panorama viewpoints, I would go for the Christ Statue on Corcovado Mountain. The views from up there are simply unparalelled!

If you can’t get enough of the panoramic views of Rio de Janeiro, I also recommend flying into or out of Santos Dumont Airport, located adjacent to downtown Rio. The aerial views of Rio before landing or after take-off are absolutely stunning!
