Spotlight: Vienna
Spring is upon us and what better time to visit this breathtaking city on the Danube. The home of Mozart, Klimt and the Habsburgs, Vienna has an unmistakable air of grandeur and haute culture. It also boasts magnificent museums, palaces, beautiful parks and fascinating neighbourhoods. It’s also a great place to shop. On a recent trip, I discovered that Vienna is the perfect place to hunt for Persian rugs at very reasonable prices. Take a stroll, visit the world-famous Belvedere or the Hofburg, explore the colourful Naschmarkt or attend one of the many concerts or operas. Vienna is also the only capital city in Europe with large tracts of vineyards within its boundaries; great for a wine-tasting afternoon.
