velvet escape’s ‘Stayed There’ feature: Hotel Indigo, Puerto Natales
Hotel Indigo
Hotel Indigo is situated in the small town of Puerto Natales in the Chilean part of Patagonia. The town is famous as the gateway to the stunning Torres del Paine National Park and the breathtaking fjords, glaciers and mountains in the area.

Hammocks
This relatively new boutique hotel is exquisitely designed by a local Chilean architect and features warm wood and stone interiors with a splash of colour provided by brightly-coloured furniture and cushions. The rooms are not very big but the view of the Seno Ultima Esperanza (love that name! Literally translated: Last Hope Sound) and the snow-capped mountains in the distance is awesome and the beds are heaven after a long day of touring.
The staff are really friendly and there’s a restaurant (sadly, with a high Ikea-factor) that serves very good regional specialities. I can also recommend the colourful bar/lounge with its comfy sofas, reading areas and iMacs. Ask the bartender to toss up a delicious pisco sour (Chile and Peru’s national cocktail) while you’re there.

View from the spa
The highlight of this hotel has got to be the spa on the top floor.

Room
In addition to massages and beauty treatments, the spa has outdoor pools that feature ergonomically-designed underwater ‘deck chairs’ surrounded by water-jets and a grand view of the town and the harbour. Absolutely stunning!
