velvet escape’s Culinary Journey: Amsterdam

2009 May 27

Duck confit spring rollWhat: Duck confit with seaweed, cucumber and celery wrapped in a rice ‘pancake’ with soy mayonnaise

Where: Odessa (Amsterdam, the Netherlands: my home!)

Pinot NeroNotes: Odessa is a beautiful restaurant housed in a boat that is moored along the Veemkade, in the eastern corner of Amsterdam’s harbour. The views across the harbour are gorgeous.

The Vietnamese-like springroll stuffed with duck confit and seaweed was absolutely delicious whilst the soy mayonnaise that accompanied it gave it a subtle Asian flavour. We paired the starters with an equally beautiful, lightly-chilled Pinot Nero from northern Italy’s Süd Tirol region. Read more ‘Culinary Journey‘ articles.
