Millau viaduct - full length
On a recent flight from Amsterdam to Majorca, I had the opportunity to view the Millau viaduct in southern France from a height of 10,000 meters (about 33,000 feet). It was an incredible sight and I managed to zoom in for some decent pictures.

The Millau viaduct, designed by Sir Norman Foster, is the world’s highest bridge – one of its masts is even taller than the Eiffel tower!! It also holds the record for having the world’s highest road deck (at 270m or 890ft). An episode of National Geographic’s ‘Megastructures’ series was dedicated to the construction of this magnificent bridge.
Seeing the bridge from the air was awesome, driving across it must be mind-blowing (and more so if you’re afraid of heights)! See more Plane views.

Hi Miles, thanks for your comment. I’m afraid of heights as well but I enjoy challenging myself… just to see how jelly-like my legs become!

I was so tempted to take a train from France to Spain just to go over the viaduct, but I’m very afraid of heights. I think I’d be too nervous to enjoy it.
