Thanks Gail. It's hard to say when the best time is for Patagonia. I was there in spring (October) and I think I was very lucky because I spoke to people who were there a week before and they had very bad weather. I've heard that late spring/early-summer (Nov-Jan) is a good time but keep in mind that the weather there is very fickle.

Cheers,
Keith

Thanks for the great pics....I guess clear days make a difference. I wonder which is the best time of year for good weather.

Cheers Nico. I can certainly recommend a trip to Patagonia. Yes, it's really remote and the weather can be ruthless but the majestic nature makes it more than worthwhile.

Best,
Keith

Thanks a lot, Keith. Now I want to get to Patagonia EVEN MORE. Didn't think that was possible.

I've had a number of my clients make it down that way, but not as many as you might think, probably because of its remote location and hidden publicity. Which is actually good for everybody. Fewer people means less impact.

Thanks for highlighting this amazing place. My next South American trip will definitely include southern Chile and Argentina, and I will tread lightly and take lots of pictures.

Thanks Andy. I was really lucky. You can see from the photos that there were plenty of sunny patches. The jagged peaks were visible for most of the time I was there. Stunning stuff!

Cheers,
Keith

Great account Keith, the beauty of Torres del Paine blew me away too. We spent a few days there in April 07, but sadly the clouds didn't lift to show us the Torres at any point. Despite that we enjoyed some of most amazing sights. The brilliant blue of the glaciers in Lago Grey stays in my mind, as does the striking backdrop of the Cuernos.
Thanks for sharing your story and triggering the good memories :-)
