I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with the winter season. I love the scenery when its snows and when the lakes, rivers and ponds freeze up. I’m not a fan of the cold. I’ve certainly been pretty chirpy about the mild winter we’ve been having so far in Holland. The fuchsias in my garden are still flowering! I’m not kidding! So, I guess it’s a bit of a surprise, and something that’s way out of my comfort zone, that I signed up for a trip to wintry Quebéc, Canada. I just checked the weather there and though it’s not as cold as it was a week earlier, I’m bringing every warm piece of clothing I can find! Down jacket [check], gloves [check], mittens [check], thermals [check], scarves [check], beanie [check], sweaters [check], woolly socks [check] and waterproof ski pants [check]. Hmmm, did I miss anything?
What I’ll be doing in Quebéc
I’ll be travelling with four other bloggers (including a videographer). We’ll arrive in Montréal and proceed to the ski resort of Mont Tremblant for three days of fun in the snow, then spend another three days in one of my favourite cities in the world: Montréal! Woohoo!
Despite my love/hate relationship with winter, I’m really looking forward to this trip because there will be a number of ‘firsts’ for me. The most important ‘first’ is that I’ll learn how to snowboard! I’ll have three days to perfect my balance on the board and go several meters without falling over – as you can see, I’m not being too ambitious! Haha! Aside from learning how to snowboard in Tremblant, we’ll also get to experience the aprés-ski fun, enjoy its fabulous cuisine, indulge ourselves at the Scandinave Spa and go on a snowshoeing tour.
We’ll be updating our social media channels with lots of photos and short videos (undoubtedly featuring many hilarious moments) so please follow us via the hashtag #LOVEWINTER on Twitter, Instagram and facebook.
AND… wish me luck! 🙂
