A Dutch floral extravaganza

The Keukenhof (literally means ‘kitchen garden’) is the largest annual flower show in the Netherlands. The park is situated near Lisse, about a half hour drive southwest of Amsterdam. Each year, the park draws hordes of visitors from all over the world who come to feast their eyes on the amazing floral display. This year promises to be special as the park celebrates its 60th birthday. In addition, there will be a special exhibition to commemorate the discovery of Manhattan and the founding of New Amsterdam (present New York) by Henry Hudson 400 years ago.

The Keukenhof will be open between 19th March and 21st May so if you’re planning a trip to the Netherlands around this time, I recommend adding a visit to the park to your itinerary. Please refer to the Keukenhof’s website for more information.
