Ten romantic things to do in Saint Lucia

The Pitons, Saint Lucia.

Saint Lucia and love go hand in hand.  As one of the most picturesque islands in the Caribbean with its iconic Piton mountains, stunning scenery, gorgeous palm-fringed beaches and warm tropical climate, Saint Lucia is the perfect setting for a romantic getaway, wedding, honeymoon or celebration of a key anniversary.

Here are my ten tips for romantic things to do in Saint Lucia:

1. Arrive in style

Helicopter transfers are great for special occasions like wedding anniversaries, as it is an exhilarating way to enjoy the breathtaking views of the beautiful island, whilst also cutting down your transfer time so you can enjoy more romantic time at your resort.

2. Just the two of us

Saint Lucia offers a range of hotels to suit everyone’s needs, but if you’re looking to spend quality time with your partner, there are also couples-only resorts. For example, Ladera Resort is the ultimate rainforest open-air hideaway, which offers spectacular sunsets and astonishing views from your very own private special retreat. Take privacy up a notch by taking a digital detox and switching off emails and calls from the outside world. Focus on just the two of you by going techno-free at resorts like Jade Mountain.

3. Strolling hand in hand in the sand

You can choose between gold, white and silvery sand in Saint Lucia! The beaches are palm-fringed and can be enjoyed in the north and the south of the island. Anse Chastanet’s 150 metres of silvery sand is one of the best beaches in the south-west of the island. It’s dotted with palms and surrounded by steep, forested hillsides.

Anse des Pitons is an astonishing beach with white sand and is set between the twin Gros and Petit Piton volcanic peaks.

Reduit Beach in the north of the island is home to a stretch of shimmering gold sand facing views of the stunning Pigeon Island.

4. Table for two

Take advantage of one of Cap Maison’s most romantic hidden spots and enjoy a beautiful private dinner on a dock built by the sea, below the Cliff at Cap Restaurant. The experience of dining on the ocean as the sun is setting is like none other and creates a truly memorable evening.

5. Rejuvenate

Cradled in Saint Lucia’s World Heritage-listed Pitons, a couple’s massage at the Rainforest Spa at Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort, is a soothing way to relax and rejuvenate right next to your loved one. The Romantic Renaissance treatment includes a customised body massage in a double cabana, followed by sparkling wine and lunch.

6. Into the sunset

Soak up breathtaking views as the sun sets over the beautiful Caribbean waters, with a private sailing charter. Sip on champagne together and let yourself be swept away by the romance of the moment. A sunset cruise is a relaxing way to enjoy a sail along stunning coastline of the tropical island paradise of Saint Lucia.

7. Discover Saint Lucia’s nature

At the Toraille Waterfall and Gardens, a nature trail with quaint bridges and walkways leads you through the verdant tropical foliage. You can take a refreshing bath under the Toraille waterfall or enjoy an invigorating back and shoulder massage under the falls. The Diamond Botanical Garden is another tropical oasis that is perfect for a casual stroll.

In addition, whale and dolphin watching in Saint Lucia is one of the most exciting and magical expeditions you can experience together. There are 33 species of whales and dolphins and over 20 live in and visit the Saint Lucian waters.

8. Under the sea with me

You can intimately explore exotic marine life with Snuba, which offers the best way to go beyond snorkeling without the responsibility or commitment of a deep dive. Peacefully swim beside your loved one as you uncover a dreamlike world filled with tropical fish and corals.

9. Say ‘I do’

If you’re looking to pop the question to that special someone, then Saint Lucia is the right place to do it and get the answer you want. You have a natural backdrop to set the heart beating when getting down on one knee. Whatever your style, we have a number of whimsical spots for you and the hotels can help to organise special touches like spelling out ‘Will You Marry Me’ in shells on the beach.

10. Get Married

Saint Lucia is the perfect destination for an unforgettable and romantic wedding. It has long been a dream destination for couples so it’s no wonder that it has won the “World’s Leading Honeymoon Destination” award for eight years in a row. Matt Damon and his wife chose the island to renew their wedding vows and McBusted’s Harry Judd and England Rugby player Mike Brown whisked their loved ones to Saint Lucia to propose.

Step into a world of ‘Gone with the Wind’ romanticism and visit one of Saint Lucia’s historical plantation houses. The enchanting Pink House is one of the island’s hottest wedding spots due to its spectacular views, backdrop of flora and fauna, and rustic ambiance. Built 150 years ago, the colonial property was originally occupied by plantation owners and is known as a Saint Lucian legacy.

    Hi Carol,
Saint Lucia is absolutely stunning. I stayed at Anse Chastanet and visited the adjacent Jade Mountain resort – just spectacular. I can also recommend Ladera with its amazing views of the Pitons. Enjoy your anniversary!

    Cheers,
    Keith

It will be our first anniversary in a month. Maybe my husband and I should celebrate in St Lucia. It sounds lush and amazing. Bring on the rainforest!
