Plane Views: Sydney Harbour

Sydney is one of the great harbourside cities in the world, ranking alongside my other favourites: San Francisco, New York, Vancouver, Cape Town and Rio de Janeiro. Seeing Sydney from the air on a clear day is a breathtaking treat. The harbour, with its dozens of inlets, is absolutely magnificent. The views over the city skyline, the iconic Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge are equally impressive. My advice is to sit on the left side of the plane (i.e. row ‘A’) if you’re flying into or out of Sydney. Planes flying into Sydney often approach from the north – you’ll get an amazing panorama of the harbour and the city before touch-down. Conversely, if you’re lucky enough to be in a plane that’s taking off in a northerly direction, you’ll get views similar to this photo!

    Hi Ben,
Have a great (hopefully scenic) flight back home! :-) Yes, I took that photo on a domestic flight from Sydney to Brisbane.

    Cheers,
    Keith

I agree Keith, a magical city to fly into (come home to) :) I’ll be back there next week after a few months away. Looking forward to seeing some Sydney magic. Is that a domestic flight departure getting that view?
